Reaching Out to People in Need-Average Joe

3 Things I am happy about:

  • Hot Showers
  • Warm Sunny Days
  • Nutella with peanut butter

I am blogging tonight concerning people we know or met briefly that we could make a difference if we simply reach out. Someone in my church group over dose last week on drugs. I did not know the person; however, it makes me wonder about how much we can will affect other people’s lives. Could we have done something more? I don’t know for sure, but I know we must try. We can only try if we reach out and listen to someone. I know we always say “hey how are you?” But do we really mean it?

Preparation

3 Things I am happy about:

  • I am happy that I want to continue learning and growing
  • Finally replacing my old work laptop
  • Having lunch with my old boss

In life, we say always we want to make it big, but how often do we actually work on the little things that will allow for the big things to happen? Most of us are lucky if we can make it through the week with one thing small that we accomplished. So I have been doing great not drinking soda. Now my goal is to start running again in preparation for the half marathon. Also, I am determine to start my own gig on the side because it’s important for me to do it.

Learning from others…

3 Things I am happy about:

  • My ability to empower others
  • Eating food at Cheddar’s
  • Being able to learn from others
Sometimes the best way to get something done is really learning from others. I have built a network of friends that I can learn from. Through this network my friends have taught me many things about life, work, and faith. I learned today that I still have so much to learn about life. It’s just figuring out how to focus and get things done with it.

What are you really desperate about in your life?

3 Things I am happy about:

  • Did well on my quiz
  • Learned new dance moves
  • Working on my side gig

What are you really desperate about in your life?

This week’s sermon was on this very question at Cross Point. It seems like a weird question, but the truth is we seek God when we realize we  can’t do anything. But the big questions can we meet him half way?

Linsanity

3 Things I am happy about:

  • Happy I finished my quiz
  • Giving P & J sandwiches to the homeless on Valentine’s Day
  • Got my Ipad 2 back for repair shop

So lately, I have been inspired be Jeremy Lin like everyone else. His story is so amazing. I feel he is a big lift for Asian Americans in terms of playing sports. I don’t know how long he will last, but he is just an inspiration because of his faith like Tim Tebow. I have posted a small video that one of my friends posted on their facebook.

Philippians 4:13

3 Things I am happy about:

  • I am excited about going to Orlando for my friend’s wedding this weekend
  • I am glad I was able to reach out to a co-worker today
  • I am happy I can help my parents out financially

I was googling the best bible verses today. I then was reminded of Philippians 4:13  “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” .  One of my friends who I met while working in Melbourne told me her favorite verse Philippians 4:13. It stuck with me because there are many times when I really can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel using my own strength. I have research all I can from different people, talks, and books. There’s not enough of your own strength to overcome ALL challenges because we were made with limitations.

I am not saying to let those limitations define who you are or what you can do, but to recognize there are limitations. I have found that when I put my faith in God, I am able to over come my mental limitations and it’s only a matter of time that I will be able to come whatever challenge I have.

Random Act of Kindness

3 Things I am happy about:

  1. Happy I met some new people at JAST
  2. Figured out how to transfer movies finally in iTunes
  3. Follow through on the random act of kindness

I received this tag on facebook from a friend of my mine concerning “The Happy Secret to Better Work”

“my friend, Tuan Ta, sent this to me, because he is the best… and i wouldn’t live my life any other way.”

I sent her the post yesterday because I thought she would appreciate it. She did!

I am truly getting the benefits of trying the process. I was able to focus more than ever on work and yet get other stuff done too. I struggle a little bit with the random act of kindness portion, but I found at least two. One was just praying for a friend’s problem with another friend and buying a drink for a friend.

Holding Yourself for Accountable for Success

I have decided to start off all of my blogs with at least three things I am joyful about that happen to me in a day.
  1. I am thankful that I was able to donate can foods at Stretch’s Superbowl Party.
  2. I appreciate a Costco employee taking time putting air in wheels.
  3. I am happy I can afford to replace my Ipad 2 screen I broke yesterday.

For today’s blog…
I have posted on my facebook a challenge to my friends, to join me in “The Happy Secret to  Better Work” . I have received some initial takers, but we will see how many will take the challenge.

I found this article today:

“Smiling is good for you – and an area of scientific study by some seriously smart researchers”

 http://www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-news/ci_19898741?source=rss

Seems like we should try to at least smile once a day =)

Money and Happiness

I was in my Managerial Finance class today and had a discussion about Money and Happiness

There is data that indicates we do get some level of happiness with money; however, if you carefully close on the graph you will notice Denmark is happier than the US, but with less GDP per capital. Hmmm…

Money does not bring or create happiness. You need to be joyful inside without the desire to seek money only.
